How to Connect Freshdesk to Claude with MCP
Freshworks provides a Freshdesk MCP server that can expose ticket, user, group, company, and solution-article tools to Claude. It is currently an Early Access Program, not a one-click connector for every Freshdesk account.
Freshdesk MCP availability and requirements
- Freshworks documents the integration as beta/Early Access for selected Freshdesk Enterprise customers.
- Access is limited to users with administrator and agent privileges.
- Authentication currently uses a Freshdesk API key.
- Freshworks lists Claude Desktop and Claude Code among the supported MCP clients.
Freshworks says EAP limits and pricing can change. Confirm current eligibility and tool limits with your technical account manager or Freshdesk support before relying on the integration in production.
What Claude can do with Freshdesk
Triage tickets
Filter tickets by status, priority, date, or assignee and summarize the queue.
Create ticket records
Create tickets when the exposed tool and the connected user's Freshdesk permissions allow it.
Work with people and groups
Find or create contacts, inspect groups, and list group members using available tools.
Find solution content
Search solution articles and use the results to draft a cited support response.
How to connect Freshdesk MCP to Claude
- Ask Freshdesk support or your technical account manager to enable MCP Early Access for your Enterprise account.
- Get your organization's Freshdesk MCP URL and create or retrieve the API key for an appropriately limited user.
- For Claude Desktop, open Claude → Settings → Developer, edit the MCP configuration, and add the remote Freshdesk MCP server exactly as shown in Freshworks' guide.
- Quit and relaunch Claude Desktop, complete any connection steps, and verify the server is connected.
- Test a narrow read action before creating or changing any Freshdesk record.
Protect the API key
Treat the key like a password. Do not paste it into a chat, ticket, screenshot, public repository, or shared document. Scope the Freshdesk user to the minimum access needed and rotate the key if exposed.
Freshdesk prompts to try
Get tickets created today and group them by status and priority. Summarize the three issues that need attention first and cite the ticket IDs.
Find my open high-priority tickets. Draft a triage plan, but do not update tickets or contact customers.
Find the solution article for payment refunds and draft a response to ticket 12345. Quote no more than needed and include the source article.
Troubleshooting
- Connection fails: check network or VPN access, confirm the MCP URL is reachable, and verify the authorization header contains a valid API key.
- Server connects but tools fail: confirm the Freshdesk user has both the required agent/admin role and access to the affected records.
- Large result is incomplete: narrow the query or let the MCP client paginate; Freshworks documents cursor-based pagination for large result sets.
Frequently asked questions
