Set up Claude Dashboards and Motion

Dashboards turns questions about connected business data into charts with visible queries and refresh times. Motion turns supplied content into code-based animation. Both are beta, and their plan availability and admin controls differ.

Availability and admin settings

Dashboards is in beta on paid Claude plans. On Enterprise it is off by default until an owner enables it under Organization settings → Artifacts. Team owners can manage access there; Enterprise owners may limit it to groups with custom roles.

Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise. It is on by default for Team and off by default for Enterprise. An Enterprise owner enables it under Organization settings → Artifacts, and can limit access to groups. Both features count toward plan usage limits.

Build a dashboard

  1. Connect an authorized source, such as Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, Snowflake, or an app connector such as Salesforce.
  2. Ask a focused question in a chat or choose Output → Dashboards. Name the timeframe, grouping, filters, and source when known.
  3. Inspect the charts. Open each query to check what it counts and check when the data was last refreshed.
  4. Refine with a specific request, such as adding a region filter or switching to weekly grouping.

Dashboards are for quick exploratory questions. For deeper analysis, continue in your organization's BI tools and validate metric definitions with the owner.

Create an animation with Motion

  1. Ask for an animation in a chat, choose Output → Motion, or start from a Motion template in Artifacts.
  2. Describe the audience, where it will play, approximate length, and main point. Attach the report, data, or images it should use.
  3. Review the scenes; ask for precise edits or change them in the editor.
  4. Choose Export → MP4 to download. Artifacts start private; use Share only when you intend to share them.

Motion animates text, charts, shapes, and images as editable code. It is not a video-generation model and does not create realistic footage or people. Longer, more complex animations can use more plan usage.

Troubleshooting

A template or Output choice is missing

Confirm plan and surface. Ask an organization owner to check Organization settings → Artifacts; Enterprise features are off by default and beta access may roll out gradually.

A dashboard is empty or cannot connect

Check that the intended connector is authorized and your account can query the source. Narrow the question to one known table and timeframe. Ask the data owner to confirm access and metric definitions.

A dashboard number seems wrong or stale

Open the chart query and check filters, date boundaries, grouping, and refresh time. Validate important numbers against an authorized source or governed report before sharing.

An animation contains an error

Attach the source material and identify the exact fact, label, scene, or timing to fix. Review all numbers and claims before exporting.

Sharing or export is unavailable

Reopen the artifact, check current plan/surface availability and organization policy, and confirm you are using the right template. A private artifact is not visible until shared.
